Editorial Policy
Ice Bass is an independent editorial review platform. These guidelines document how our testing procedures work, how ratings are developed, our correction process, and how we manage affiliate relationships. We view them as our commitment to readers.
Editorial Mission
We review video slot games and online casinos serving UK players. Our reporting aims for useful information over marketing aesthetics, concrete numbers over subjective claims, methodological rigour over promotional rhetoric. We name shortcomings plainly, without softening them.
Editorial Team
All tests are conducted by a dedicated editorial team with more than 14 years of combined experience in iGaming. Reviews are authored and published with verified author biography. Ghostwritten content, unreviewed AI generation and sponsored articles are excluded.
Casino Testing Process
Each casino recommended on Ice Bass undergoes the following verification steps:
- Licence verification. The stated licence number is verified with the issuing regulator (UK Gambling Commission, Malta Gaming Authority, Curaçao eGaming, Anjouan Gaming Authority and others).
- Live-money account registration. Account opening including KYC verification; processing time is documented.
- Deposit. Minimum £100 deposited via at least two different payment methods.
- Gameplay test. At least 200 spins of Ice Bass or similar video slots across different bet levels.
- Withdrawal test. At least three withdrawals across different amounts and payment methods.
- Support test. Queries submitted via live chat and email with documented response time and quality.
A casino is only added after passing all steps. Listings are reviewed at least every six months and corrected or removed if needed.
Rating System
Casino and game ratings follow a structured 47-point audit mapped to an overall score using this weighting:
- Payout speed: 25 percent
- Licence transparency: 20 percent
- Bonus fairness (wagering, game weighting, max-bet clauses): 20 percent
- Customer service: 15 percent
- Game selection: 10 percent
- App and usability: 10 percent
The resulting score of 0-100 is mapped to a 5-star scale. Providers scoring below 70 are not included in our recommendations.
Affiliate Transparency
Part of our revenue comes from affiliate commissions. When a reader clicks an affiliate link and deposits with that provider, we receive a one-time or volume-based fee. This payment does not influence inclusion in our recommendations or ranking order.
- Casinos do not pay for listing or favourable position.
- Ranking is determined solely by the 47-point audit.
- Providers with higher commission rates receive no preferential treatment.
- Affiliate relationships are marked in the footer and inline where relevant.
Fact-Checking
Numerical claims in our articles are verified before publication:
- RTP values: From official developer documentation, cross-checked against iTech Labs or eCOGRA certificates.
- Bonus terms: Sourced from each casino's terms at time of publication. Since providers change terms quickly, we recommend verifying before depositing.
- Licence data: Checked with the issuing regulator.
Corrections and Updates
If a statement proves inaccurate, we correct it promptly. Material content changes are noted in an update box at the article footer. Factual errors are corrected, never silently removed. Readers can contact the editorial team at: [email protected].
Responsible Gambling
Gambling is entertainment, not an income strategy. This position is reflected in our writing: we avoid 'get rich' rhetoric, highlight addiction risks and link to support services in every article and footer. If you need help: National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133 (free and confidential).
What We Don't Do
- No 'guaranteed strategies' that ignore expected value mathematics.
- No promotion of unlicensed casinos or predictor apps.
- No promotional codes we've already verified as invalid.
- No paid articles without clear marking.
- No review verdicts without actual testing.
Methodological Updates
These guidelines are reviewed annually and updated for market changes, regulatory developments and our own methodological learnings. The current version is always shown here.
